The desk was supposed to be black but my best laid plans are often changed. Once I began sanding I realized that this was destined to become another "scraped" look. So far I've had two other pieces of furniture that transitioned into this perfectly (A Treasure and Art Deco).

This wonderful sharecropper's pie safe was once dry-brushed a hideous yellow--why would anyone obviously choose that color? White to the rescue! The pie safe is now clean and bright with 2 coats of clean white paint--ready for wire screen, glass or cute fabric on the doors. 
In the very near future--at least by next week--this will be a completed (i.e. fully stuffed) bear. He is hand sewn from a vintage quilt and will have vintage button eyes. Miss Hettie's is preparing for Troy Fest--a celebration of the arts in Troy, AL. The antique shop, One The Square Antiques, is located, as the name implies, directly on the town square--right in the middle of Troy Fest--thus making for a golden opportunity. The completed bears (I hope to make at least 5) and my Sweet Peas line of heirloom children clothing will be part of my display.
