are these eggs?. . .Easter eggs?. . .or quilted eggs?
They are actually handmade Easter Eggs. . .elliptical spheres constructed from a vintage quilt. Well now I've complicated things further. . .I've added mathematical terminology to the description. . .why can't I just call these Easter Eggs?
To me they are handmade Easter eggs. . .ready for display in your cottage home or primitive home/cabin. A cutter quilt (I have many) was cut and pieced together to form 7 shabby chic Easter Eggs.
Stop by my Etsy shop to see more Easter goodies!

all day singing. . .
and dinner on the ground. . .
an old Southern saying depicting life at the turn of the century (yes 1900!) People would come from miles around to the church to hear the "singing" then go outside and open up their boxes of lunch (yes there were "box lunches")--almost always fried chicken! Even in the 1990's when Mama saw a country church yard full of vehicles after 12 noon, she would utter this same phrase.
So when I arranged these primitive chairs for the photo, I immediately thought of Mama and her saying. No there wasn't a singing or dinner on the ground and not even fried chicken, but Mama was in my thoughts today when I put the chairs in the yard.

Country White. . .
"old school" study desk. . .perfect for the farmhouse or in a collage apartment. Originally the drawers were painted a bright yellow. I sanded the desk and then dry brushed a creamy white over the entire desk leaving the yellow to peak through ever so slightly.

Garden chair. . .
a "headed for the burn pile" chair has turned into a country chic plant stand. This old thrown away chair that my dear sister-in-law Janice "found" for me has been sitting on the porch for 2 years waiting one me to either throw it away (otherwise know as burning it in the country) or to make it pretty.
Well a few week ago, during some of our coldest weather, I decided I wanted to make it pretty. The chair was always without a seat but had an upholstered back. Originally I had intended to cover a board for the seat and then recover the back. I realized that this was (as Mama would have said) "too much sugar for a dime" (otherwise known as too much time and effort).
I began by tearing away the upholstery on the back--well it turned out there was horse hair filling--yes real horse hair! This, in itself, was a real mess and a difficult job; but the real job came next. . .there must have been 200 nails, tacks, staples in the back of that chair. After working 3 days, I had removed most of the metal objects.

Now the fun part. . .leaving just the shell of the chair intact, I dry brushed it in a creamy white, plopped a fern in the middle. I hope someone else like my creation as much as I do. You can find the chair in my etsy shop and at Troy Antiques.
