There is a time of the season. . .
For ghosts. . . goblins. . . And graveyards. . .
Halloween is almost upon us--well at least the decorating is and what more could you want but a tombstone!
Actually this piece was originally a firescreen but when I painted it, a different personality emerged. No matter what I did, it still looked like a tombstone. . . The kind in really old southern cemetarys that bears no inscription. So for the moment (or should I say month), it is a tombstone.
Availabe on Etsy and at Troy Antiques.

A clean approach. . .
It seems I can't ever find time to blog anymore. . .
There's always something seemingly more important. . . Regardless, I'm giving this a whirl again and maybe I can be more consistent.
About the chairs. . . They were cute in their own right prior to painting, but they needed to match a painted drop leaf table. . . Thus the white. Now the chairs are clean, white, and most important. . . They match the table. Hope you enjoy them Juliette!

Go to green. . .
The latest project changed midway. . .
The desk was supposed to be black but my best laid plans are often changed. Once I began sanding I realized that this was destined to become another "scraped" look. So far I've had two other pieces of furniture that transitioned into this perfectly (A Treasure and Art Deco).
Desk is available at Troy Antiques, $78.
Cute and blue. . .

Mean green. . .
I almost always paint in (off)white or (off)black--those colors seem to sell better/quicker--this time I had to be different! This wonderful old chest has been dry-brushed in green--yes, green. I think this gives it an "anthropologie" look and feel. The drawer pulls are fabric--I realize not everyone would understand this but really it's just another "anthro" trick.
Now why can't I sell to Anthropologie?
This chest can function in a bedroom as a dresser--in the den, to hold a television--on in a dining room as a buffet or sideboard.
Available at Troy Antiques, $138.
perfectly black. . .

new moon. . .old moon. . .
1970's reborn. . .owl season. . .
The green fabric with the wonderful owl applique was originally a ladies' vest from the 1970's. Tattered and torn, the "shredds" were given to me along with encouragement--"I'm certain you can make something out of this".
I knew I would make a pillow and the green toile seemed to be the perfect background. . .the orange border? It just matched the accent color on the owl.
So the pillow was born and is now available at Troy Antiques and in my Etsy shop.

Cute and Cottagey. . .
The perfect rocker for your home, cottage, or even the new baby's room. . . The combined efforts of Miss Hettie's and Cottage and Cabin transformed the vintage platform rocker into a sweet creation. The white slipcover allows this rocker to move from room to room. Perfect for the new baby's room now or it can be used in a guest room later. . . Use your imagination.

Music anyone?
Hold your breath. . .
Weekend projects waiting. . .
I haven't yet quite decided what color to use--
possibly "my" white for one and color for at least one. I have some great zebra print fabric I'm anxious to use, so that may be the covering for the chair seat.
Stay tuned. . .hold your breath. . .wait and see. . .hopefully they will all be finished before Monday!

What am I?
In actuality, this is a vintage plant stand.
Now it has a multitude of uses, from the kitchen and storing dishes to the bedroom holding bags, sweaters, or shoes (unless you are like Sweethomewhever and need a room for shoes), or back to the garden holding flowers as it was originally intended. This piece is so "anthropologie", it would be perfect in their store. Available at Troy Antiques for $38

A shabby window for extra decor. . .
Spoons and forks bent for hooks. . .
And a potting table is born!
Thanks to Bobby at Cottage and Cabin for his creative genius. Potting table available at Troy Antiques.

Cute and sassy
Dressing table with swing away arms has an attached green and pink skirt. The coordinating stool has a crazy quilt patchwork top.
Both are available at Troy Antiques; dressing table, $48; stool, $28.
Cottage chic. . .
Beautiful antiqued dresser
This two drawer dresser base has been antiqued a wonderful shade of white. The mirror that is shown with it has a pale blue edge and complements the dresser. Both are available at Troy Antiques; dresser, $85; mirror, $32.
It had to happen. . .
I just couldn't stand it any longer. . .
the china cabinet that I had purchased and used for display at the antique shop needed a new paint job! So. . .I painted it black--black interior and exterior--but that just didn't work--too depressing I think. Out came the gray paint (something I swore I'd never use again) and I painted the exterior gray--it is perfect! Of shall I say it is perfect after I distressed the piece a bit--everything needs a little "scuffs".
The china cabinet is a classic 1940's style with 3 shelves and a glass door. The lower door open to revel extra storage for linens or other china. Available at Troy Antiques for $128; delivery is available to some locations.
Georgia Bulldog
Vintage concrete Georgia Bulldog--what a find!
He was missing an ear when I found him, but a little repair job made him almost as good as new. In spite of the fact the shop is located in Alabama, deep in Auburn (and University of Alabama) territory, the Bulldog was quickly snapped up and carried off to Atlanta. He now graces the garden somewhere in UGA territory!
Check back with me again--you never can tell what I might find and I'm always searching for vintage garden items!

Do you know. . .
Summer cuteness
Crisp and white. . .perfect for summer. . .
This cute bistro table and chair set has been painted white and slightly distressed, giving it a worn, comfy look. Red patchwork cushions were added to the seats.
goes home with a sweet couple. We all hope they enjoy the set.
Sisters?
actually not. . .
just one table, painted and distressed, and a cute stool that has a wonderful crackle finish.
The stool is white with a hint of blue peaking through--too cute! Both are available at Troy Antiques: table, $38 and stool $22.
Gone. . .
I suppose I'm too slow with my blogging. . .I finished this chair and it was purchased immediately at the shop (Troy Antiques). Originally, the chair was an ugly metallic green (yes, green) and I sanded it a bit then painted it white and distressed it for a softer look.
Keep checking back on the blog. . hopefully there will be more like this soon.
